Mining and mineral supply chains play a central role in the energy transition—and a critical role in shaping outcomes for forests, ecosystems, and communities. The 2030 Global Forest Vision: Priority Actions for the Private Sector: Mining and Mineral Supply Chains sets out practical steps that companies across mining value chains can take to align production, sourcing, and investment with global forest goals.
These actions include strengthening due diligence and disclosure, embedding forest and rights protections into operations and procurement, improving traceability and transparency, and engaging with Indigenous Peoples and local communities through credible Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) processes. Developed through extensive multi-stakeholder engagement and grounded in emerging industry practice, this agenda provides a roadmap for driving measurable progress in the next one to two years.
This publication was developed collaboratively by partners of the Forest Declaration Assessment, coordinated by Climate Focus, in consultation with companies, investors, standards bodies, and civil society organizations working to advance more responsible mining and mineral supply chains.
