The Forest Declaration Assessment at COP30 in Belém

Forests are expected to play a central role at COP30, and the Forest Declaration Assessment will be there to track the developments.

/ November 5, 2025

UNFCCC COP30 has been dubbed the "forest COP". The Brazilian COP Presidency has repeatedly emphasized the importance of forests – especially tropical rainforests – for climate mitigation. It is therefore no coincidence that the conference is being held in Belém, at the gateway to the Amazon rainforest. In addition, a new fund for the protection of tropical rainforests is launching alongside COP30. The Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF) aims to raise USD 125 billion from public and private investors.

Given the momentum for advancing global action on forests and climate, the Forest Declaration Assessment will attend COP30. Please reach out to the Assessment coordinating author Jillian Gladstone ([email protected]) to connect about forest finance and policy.
